George Holmes "Buddy" Tate (February 22, 1913 – February 10, 2001) was an American jazz saxophonist and clarinetist.
Wild Bill Davis (November 24, 1918 – August 17, 1995) was the stage name of American jazz pianist, organist, and arranger William Strethen Davis.
He is best known for his pioneering jazz electric organ recordings and for his tenure with the Tympany Five, the backing group for Louis Jordan.
Prior to the emergence of Jimmy Smith in 1956, Davis (whom Smith had reportedly first seen playing organ in the 1930s) was the pacesetter among organists.
"Midnight Slows Vol.2" is a 1972 soul-jazz album by organist Wild Bill Davis and saxophonist Buddy Tate, released on the French Black and Blue label.
It features a warm, late-night swing and blues session, emphasizing laid-back grooves, with some releases featuring additional artists like Milt Buckner.
"Midnight Slows Vol.2" is considered an excellent example of 1970s European-produced mainstream jazz, emphasizing the bluesy, swing-based capabilities of its veteran performers.
